How often has it happened to you? You’re flipping through the TV, and you come apon one of those talk shows and by sheer coincidence, they are talking about a subject that interests you (say, religion). So you pause on the station for a moment, only to watch as the debate descends into a scream-fest, with people cutting each other off and calling each other names, instead of actually allowing each other to make their points with respect and dignity. Frustrated, you get a headache. And you change the channel.
That’s ridiculous. Debates aren’t for screaming, they’re for presenting two disparate sides of an issue in a persuasive means, and allowing the listeners to make up their minds.
God / No God is two people who hold vastly differing views on religion. Bill Devlin is an Evangelical Christian and founder of The Urban Family Council, and Dave Silverman is the National Spokesperson for American Atheists. Together, using your moderator or the unique format in which the audience chooses the subjects, they debate current issues -- respectfully.
No Screaming (well, not much), no raised fists, no chair throwing. Just open honest, fast-paced debates that are different and relevant every time.
