How it works
FIRST, as people come in, they are given cards on which to ask questions to the debaters. All these cards are placed into a bin
A VOLUNTEER from the audience is selected (or a moderator is preselected) to be the “Timer and Topic Picker”. He is given a stopwatch, the bin of suggestions, and one instruction: “Don’t let us go on for more than 7 minutes”. The volunteer picks a card, reads it, and starts the stopwatch.
THE DEBATERS debate the issue in a respectful but forceful manner until they reach an impasse or the volunteer announces that 7 minutes have passed. At that time, the next topic is chosen from the bin, read aloud, and the stopwatch is reset.
IN THE END, after an hour of constant debating, the two gentlemen summarize, shake hands, and smile.
